Befriending service
Holbeck Elderly Aid offers a befriending service to older people (60+) living
in the community.
The aim is to develop supportive relationships and foster a sense of being part
of the Community
What does a Volunteer Befriender do?
| • One of the main purposes of befriending is to address social isolation, |
| • Volunteers undertake regular visits or ‘outings.’ It could be:-1/2 hour per week to 1 to 2 hours or more, during the day, evening, midweek, or weekend. |
| • Meet up on a regular basis and share an interest together “going for a coffee / tea etc” |
| • Provide valuable respite for a Carer |
| • Provide a period of stability with a reliable trustworthy companion. |
Volunteers can claim back money spent on things expenses
incurred such as bus fare, coffees etc. |
