Befriending service

Holbeck Elderly Aid offers a befriending service to older people (60+) living in the community.
The aim is to develop supportive relationships and foster a sense of being part of the Community

What does a Volunteer Befriender do?

• One of the main purposes of befriending is to address social isolation,
• Volunteers undertake regular visits or ‘outings.’ It could be:-1/2 hour per week to 1 to 2 hours or more, during the day, evening, midweek, or weekend.
• Meet up on a regular basis and share an interest together “going for a coffee / tea etc”
• Provide valuable respite for a Carer
• Provide a period of stability with a reliable trustworthy companion.

Volunteers can claim back money spent on things expenses incurred such as bus fare, coffees etc.
